What are Veneers?

Veneers are made out of thin shells of porcelain. These veneers are then placed over the very front of your teeth to cover up imperfections and minor flaws. They are a great option for transforming your smile without the need for surgery or invasive treatment. Despite how thin they are, you can expect veneers to last for a decade or longer without needing any special treatment.

Why would Porcelain Veneers be necessary?

Veneers can be thought of as a high-quality cover-up to a large range of dental imperfections. If your teeth are stained, cracked, chipped, discolored, gaped or spaced, we may recommend that you have veneers placed. It’s not uncommon for patients to want veneers before an upcoming wedding or because they need a boost of confidence to get them to feel good about their smile.

Who’s eligible for Porcelain Veneers?

Veneers are most suited to adult patients who have otherwise healthy teeth. If your teeth are loose, severely decayed or experiencing other problems, you may need other work done before veneers can be placed. However, veneers are noninvasive in nature and are made to last. They’re great for patients who are ready to change their appearance and the overall look of their smile.

What can be expected when having Porcelain Veneers placed?

We may lightly buff the front of your teeth to make room for the new veneers. Impressions will then be taken and used to craft the new porcelain veneers that you’ll have placed. Your second appointment involves placing the actual veneers and perfectly aligning them so that they look natural. We adjust any bite problems or issues before you leave the office. You can then take a look at your new smile and see how different it looks thanks to the benefits of porcelain veneers. You should consider replacing your veneers every decade or when they begin to show signs of wear.

If you think you might need or will benefit from porcelain veneers, we welcome you to call our office so that we can help in scheduling an appointment.
