What is a Dental Emergency?

Emergencies can strike at virtually any time. You may be eating your favorite food only to find that your tooth has broken or cracked. A filling might fall out or you might be experiencing severe pain that over-the-counter medication isn’t helping. We offer convenient emergency care for patients who need to see a dentist right away.

Why is Dental Emergency treatment needed?

If you put off going for treatment, the emergency can and will eventually get worse. That minor toothache will become severely painful and may even develop into an infection. Lost dental fillings and crowns can affect your oral functioning, making it difficult to eat and chew without it being uncomfortable or painful. We recommend reaching out for emergency care as soon as you notice that there’s a problem.

What are common Dental Emergencies?

We see many different dental emergencies and advise our patients to come in as soon as they begin to notice there’s an issue. At Justin Dental and Braces, we offer care for both new and existing patients and can work with adult and pediatric patients alike.

Some of the more common emergencies seen in our office include:

What can you expect with Emergency treatment?

We begin our visit with you with an exam. This allows us to get to know what the problem is and the best way to go about treating it. We may take x-rays of the area so that we can further identify the underlying problem. If there is an infection or severe abscess, we may suggest antibiotics to clear the infection before any type of treatment is administered. Treatment of an emergency is quick and effective at relieving your symptoms. If you aren’t already seeking regular care, we’ll suggest coming in every six months for checkups to monitor dental problems.

If you have an emergency and want to be seen right away, call us now and we will get you in at your earliest convenience.
